How Does AutoReply Mate Work?
AutoReply Mate uses Android's Notification Listener Service — a standard Android API — to monitor incoming message notifications. This is the same system you use when you tap "Reply" directly from the notification tray.
When a message arrives, AutoReply Mate evaluates your configured rules in order:
- App check — Is auto reply enabled for this app?
- Time check — Is the current time within the active schedule?
- Sender check — Is this sender a contact, unknown, or excluded?
- Cooldown check — Has enough time passed since the last reply to this sender?
- Keyword match — Does the message match a keyword rule?
- Send reply — Fire the matching auto-reply text through the notification system
No message content is sent to any external server unless you explicitly enable the Server API feature and configure your own endpoint.
Server API — AI-Powered Replies
The Server API is an advanced PRO feature that transforms AutoReply Mate into an AI-powered messaging assistant. Instead of returning a static reply, the app forwards the incoming message to an HTTP endpoint you configure — your own server, a cloud function, or a direct AI API bridge.
Your server receives the message, processes it (using OpenAI GPT, Claude AI, a database lookup, or any custom logic), and returns the reply text. AutoReply Mate then sends that reply automatically.
The connection is secured with a custom
X-API-Key header. Per-app API
endpoints are supported, so your WhatsApp
messages can hit a different AI than your SMS
messages.
